PHCC Strengthens Collaboration with PFAG, Opens Direct Communication Channels with Partners for the Sixth Year

05 Dec 2024

The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) organized the sixth meeting of the Partners and Family Advisory Group (PFAG), continuing its dedicated efforts to promote a culture and concept of person- and community-centered care. This initiative aims to empower community partnerships and enhance communication by providing open and direct communication channels, enabling individuals to express and evaluate their perspectives directly with PHCC officials.

This significant event, attended by Dr. Mariam Ali Abdul Malik, PHCC’s Managing Director, brought together PFAG members, PHCC leaders and staff, and esteemed guests from various institutions in Qatar. It reaffirmed PHCC’s commitment to engaging patients and families in shaping healthcare services.

Addressing Feedback and Proposals

The agenda of the sixth PFAG meeting highlighted how PHCC has implemented and addressed feedback and suggestions from the fifth meeting held during the previous cycle. Dr. Durriya Al Qahtani presented a comprehensive overview of impactful changes introduced to align PHCC’s services with the needs and expectations of its users. She emphasized that these advancements were directly informed by the input and participation of patients and their families, showcasing the power of listening to those who directly receive care across PHCC’s 31 health centers.

Following this, Dr. Ashraf Helmi presented updates on home healthcare services, illustrating how feedback from patients receiving home care had informed improvements over the past year. These collaborative efforts between the home care team and service recipients yielded actionable insights, enabling PHCC to better tailor its home healthcare services to community needs.

Deriving Solutions and Recommendations

The meeting reached its most interactive phase with a dynamic discussion session led by Dr. Sumaya Al Mutawa, a PFAG member. Using facilitation techniques, Dr. Al Mutawa guided participants through brainstorming and deriving solutions for three key challenges impacting patient experience indicators and satisfaction levels. These challenges included reducing patient no-show rates, enhancing patient identification processes, and increasing response rates to patient experience surveys.

This vibrant discussion generated innovative ideas and practical solutions, demonstrating the value of diverse perspectives in addressing shared healthcare challenges between providers and users.

Advancing Healthcare Services

The meeting concluded with an inspiring speech by Dr. Mariam Abdul Malik, who reflected on the importance of maintaining open and meaningful communication with patients, their families, and the broader community. She expressed gratitude for the contributions of PFAG members, reaffirming the corporation’s dedication to improving the health and well-being of communities through collaboration, transparency, and patient-centered healthcare services.

The sixth PFAG meeting stands as a testament to PHCC’s leadership in integrating patient engagement into its operational and strategic frameworks. By prioritizing dialogue, collaboration, and coordination with partners, PHCC continues to elevate the quality and responsiveness of its healthcare services, setting a benchmark for excellence in patient- and community-centered care across Qatar.
