The vision of wellness services is to empower people to make positive lifestyle choices to achieve balance in physical, mental, social, emotional, and spiritual health and to support people to live longer, healthier, and more productive lives.
These services are designed to prevent or reduce people's exposure to the four primary risk factors associated with poor health in Qatar:
Smoking
Unhealthy eating habits
Physical inactivity
Obesity
Wellness centers are currently operational in the following health centers:
Wellness services provide a diverse set of interventions to enable individuals to adopt a healthier and more well-rounded way of life. These services are administered by a team of professionals with diverse expertise and conform to global standards. Each wellness center is equipped with a fully furnished gym, a semi-Olympic swimming pool, spa facilities including a sauna and steam room, exercise recovery areas, massage rooms, and a variety of group exercise classes.
Healthy lifestyle, health coach and exercise physiology clinics have been established in wellness centers to offer a wide range of interventions to address obesity, lack of physical activity, unhealthy eating habits and smoking.
Smoking is the leading preventable cause of mortality, responsible for over seven million deaths worldwide.
Smokers who stop smoking reduce their risk of developing and dying from tobacco-related illnesses. Treating all patients for tobacco use and providing smokers with behavioral counseling and pharmacotherapy to stop smoking are among the most valuable preventive services that are offered in smoking cessation clinics.
