As part of the development of the Asnani School Program in terms of awareness, the program management has decided to launch the second phase targeting the teaching and administrative staff in schools to raise their awareness about the importance of oral and dental health. This comes after the Asnani Program team had worked hard to organize awareness lectures directed at the teaching and administrative staff in primary schools at various intervals, aiming to educate them on the importance of oral and dental health for themselves, their students, and the community. One of the latest lectures organized by the team was coordinated by the nurse of Ahmed Mansour Primary Boys School, Mr. Mohamed Abukhamis, with the approval of the school principal, Mr. Nasser Al-Malki, where Dr. Hossam Abdul Latif Al-Shweikh, the supervisor of the Asnani Program team, delivered a valuable lecture to the teaching and administrative staff.
Dr. Najat Al Yafei, the Manager of the Oral Health Promotion & Prevention Department at the Preventive Health Directorate in the Primary Health Care Corporation, stated that the goal of the second awareness phase is to reach all the teaching and administrative staff and introduce them to the program and its importance, not only for the students but also for themselves, to maintain healthy teeth and gums for a long lifespan, thus improving their quality of life. She also emphasized that they would become role models in spreading awareness of oral health, just as they impart knowledge to their students.
Dr. Al Yafei confirmed that teachers and administrators are our close ambassadors to the students, with whom they spend long hours daily. Their support of these efforts will enhance the program's impact and contribute to reducing tooth decay and gum disease in the future, inshaaAllah.
She further explained that the second phase of awareness will enable the teaching and administrative staff to transfer knowledge about the importance of oral and dental health to students effectively and continuously by integrating awareness into lessons and vital skills as examples, and into daily activities. This will help reinforce the importance of oral hygiene as an essential part of personal hygiene. Moreover, the administrative staff will be our subsequent focal person during the next phase of the Asnani Program to raise parents' awareness during their frequent meetings throughout the academic year. These efforts will raise parents' awareness of the importance of maintaining healthy teeth and the significance of enrolling their children in the Asnani School Program during kindergarten and primary school stages, where early screening is conducted to detect dental caries or other oral diseases, and preventive treatments such as fluoride application and preventive fissure sealant are provided to protect teeth from decay.
Thus, the school, with its teaching and administrative staff, will become distinguished ambassadors for oral health generation after generation, helping us achieve Qatar's Vision 2030 in promoting public health through oral health.
