The Minister of Public Health Inaugurates New Al Sadd Health Center

H.E. Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, Minister of Public Health, inaugurated on Monday March 13th, 2023, the new Al Sadd Health Center of the Primary Health Care Corporation.

Her Excellency toured the center, during which she was briefed on the various specialized clinics and sections equipped with the latest medical technologies in primary health care services and received a detailed explanation about the health services the center provides to the patients.

The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Mariam Ali AbdulMalik, PHCC Managing Director, and a number of senior officials in the health sector.
With the opening of the Al Sadd Center, the number of PHCC health centers has reached 31, distributed in the cities and regions of the country.

Al Sadd Health Center is located in a strategic area in the center of Doha and serves many neighboring areas. Registration is carried out according to the approved national address for patients.

In a statement on the occasion of the opening, HE Dr. Hanan al-Kuwari affirmed that the opening of more primary health care centers in various regions of the country comes within the framework of work to ensure that all residents have access to high-quality and integrated health services, at the right time and place, in order to achieve the goal (A Healthy Population: Physically and Mentally) in Qatar National Vision 2030 and in the health strategy.

She added that primary health care services have become more focused on healthy lifestyles and disease prevention, and seek to promote public health, within the framework of the health sector plans to shift care from a curative, hospital-based model to an enhanced one that provides preventive health services in the community.

"PHCC has recently witnessed the opening of a number of new health centers, the latest of which is Al Sadd Health Center with its comprehensive and integrated services, which we are pleased to open today. The health center services will cover the neighboring areas, as the center has a capacity of 35,000 patients, and it is expected that this number will be fully registered in the first year through electronic registration or a direct visit to the center. 

“While focusing on establishing new centers, PHCC is also working on maintaining, expanding and developing some of the existing centers that are witnessing a high turnout of patients, especially those that serve densely populated areas. We affirm PHCC’s continued keenness to protect the health of the population of Qatar by providing the best health services and the continuous development through the high quality, diverse and integrated curative services, in addition to the preventive services as being the main gate to achieving the vision and mission of the corporation” she added.

The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) also continues to develop new plans and strategies that contribute to be unique in the primary health care field though expanding the geographical coverage of its health centers by opening new ones, providing advanced services, supporting scientific research, attracting competencies, and supporting PHCC partners in the health sector and all other sectors in order to upgrade the health and well-being of the population to achieve Qatar vision 2030.

“Capacity”
The capacity of the new Al Sadd health center is 35,000 patients and can be increased to 50,000 to serve the residents of the Al Sadd area and neighboring areas, such as Fereej Bin Mahmoud, Al Messila, Fereej Bin Omran, Al Hitmi Al Jadeed, Hamad Medical City, Al Sadd and Al Mirqab Al Jadeed.
 
“Model Design”
The design of the new health centers was developed in accordance with the highest standards of quality and safety, and in line with international standards in terms of energy saving and environmental conservation.

People with special needs were also taken into account to enable access to distinguished and facilitated services through guiding signs of expressive images and Braille symbols for the blind, appropriate toilets, wide corridors for easy movement, automatic doors and parking lots close to the main entrances. The health center is also capable to accommodate modern future technologies in the field of medical equipment.
 
“Available Clinics”
The new center offers services such as family medicine, pregnancy and postpartum follow-up, well-baby services, periodic vaccinations, well-women, non-communicable diseases, communicable diseases, travel vaccinations, annual health check-up, adolescent health, premarital examination, dental, ENT, dermatology, ophthalmology, optometry, maternal and child health consultations, dietician, social worker, health education, physiotherapy, minor surgery, urgent care services for the elderly and children, and mental health services.
