His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdul Aziz Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, inaugurated PHCC’s new Umm Al Seneem Health Center.
His Excellency toured the new health center and was briefed about the specialized clinics and departments equipped with the latest medical technologies offering primary health care services. He was also briefed about the health services available to patients in the new health center.
He was accompanied by Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, Minister of Public Health, Dr. Mariam Abdulmalik, Managing Director of PHCC, and a number of senior officials in the health sector.
After the opening of the Umm Al Seneem Health Center, the number of PHCC health centers has reached 30, distributed across different regions of the country. The center is located in Zone 56, which includes Ain Khaled, Abu Hamour, and Umm Al Seneem. The registration is carried out according to the registered national address.
Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, the Minister of Public Health, stressed the keenness of the ministry and the health sector to provide high-quality healthcare services to the community, saying that the expansion of PHCC’s health centers in various regions of the country comes within the strategic plans to meet the health needs of the population near their places of residence.
Her Excellency Al Kuwari added that primary healthcare services have become more comprehensive, integrated, and consistent, focusing on health, disease prevention, and healthy lifestyles to improve the health and well-being of the population.
PHCC’s Managing Director, Dr. Mariam Abdulmalik, said that the new center will cover, with its services, the surrounding areas, with a capacity of 35,000 patients. It is expected that in the first year, 20,000 patients will be registered online or by visiting the center directly.
She said while the focus is on establishing new health centers, work is also underway to maintain and expand some of the current centers that are witnessing a large number of visitors, especially in densely populated areas. During the past 10 years, PHCC has succeeded in preserving the health of Qatar’s population by providing the best health services and constantly developing them through specialized clinics, in addition to establishing more than five health and wellness centers in the country as preventive services.
Umm Al Seneem Health Center provides all basic services from 7 am to 11 pm, Sunday to Thursday. The services and clinics available are: Family Medicine; Antenatal and Postnatal; Well Baby & Vaccinations; Woman's Health; Communicable & Non-Communicable Diseases; Travel Vaccine; Dental; Maternal & Child Health counselor; SMART health check-up; Dietitian; Health Education; and Physiotherapy. Specialized Clinics include Ophthalmology, ENT, Dermatology, Audiology, and Optometry.
In designing the new health centers, people with special needs were taken into account to provide accessible services such as guiding signs of expressive images, Braille for the blind, appropriate toilets, wide corridors for ease of movement, automatic doors, reception desks of appropriate height, and parking spaces close to the main entrances and ramps.
When designing the building, Qatari heritage was considered. It also conforms to the highest international fire safety standards and is able to host modern medical equipment.
