09 Feb 2022

NSD22-1

In accordance with the National Sport Day Committee’s precautions, and in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) organized various activities and events on the National Sport Day while adhering to social distancing and keeping a safe distance to ensure the safety and health of the community and limit the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

The National Sport Day Committee required to have a maximum of 15 vaccinated participants in per activity, and a maximum of 5 for those who did not complete the vaccine doses, such as children below 12, and to conduct a rapid antigen test within 24 hours before participating, to prove that they are free from COVID-19 virus.
PHCC held several activities that comply with the protocols of the National Sport Day amidst the continued fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and urged everyone to keep a distance of at least one meter during all times of activity.

It has also published many articles and reports to highlight the importance of sports on one’s health through the print, audio, and visual media. In addition to intensifying awareness on PHCC’s media platforms and publishing awareness messages about the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle and exercising for both the body and mind’s health.

As for events targeting PHCC staff, PHCC organized a health awareness corner to raise awareness of the importance of health and sports for the individual and society, and reinforce concepts of healthy lifestyles, with the participation of the nutritionist, nurses, and health trainers from PHCC wellness centers to measure their BMI, provide advice on the importance of healthy nutritional programs and physical activity, and measure their vital signs. Furthermore, PHCC called for a positive change in their daily lives by integrating physical activity into their daily lives. In addition to organizing a competition to go up and down the stairs for staff instead of using elevators to encourage movement and exercise.

PHCC also urged all its affiliates, members of society, and all authorities in the country to invest in and benefit from the National Sport Day, by exercising on this day individually or in groups, as per the MoPH’s protocols.

The importance of organizing the National Sport Day lies in the country’s aim to bring the health benefits of sport with its moral and human values, raise awareness among people in the country of the importance of sports in their daily life routine, and encourage them to exercise throughout the year to become a part of their daily routine. Changes in the daily routine, such as taking the stairs instead of the elevator and parking cars away from destination and walking to stay healthy, can make a difference.
