Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) provides early breast cancer detection services to encourage women aged 45 and above with no related symptoms to undergo early detection tests using a mammogram which is safe, fast and relatively painless.
The target group will be contacted by the Breast and Bowel Cancer Screening Call Center; but if you wish to book an appointment, you may contact 8001112.
When you come to the appointment, please carry all previous mammogram reports, as well as a list of places and dates for these tests.
It is also necessary to discuss with the nurse or radiography technician other aspects of your medical history including all surgeries and medications, as well as family or personal history of breast, ovarian, and uterine cancer.
Make sure on the day of the mammogram not to use powder, deodorant, moisturizer, or perfume especially under the armpits and on the breasts. It is also recommended not to wear any jewelry, especially long earrings or necklaces unless they can be taken off easily.
After the test and imaging, you will be provided with information on how to receive the results.
If the result is normal, you will receive an SMS; if the result is not normal, the Call Center will contact you to schedule another appointment before you are referred to Hamad Medical Corporation for further tests.
Do not hesitate to contact 8001112 to book an appointment and assuage your concerns.
