HE Dr Hanan Al Kuwari attends virtual award ceremony to celebrate PHCC with highest level of achievement in Accreditation and People Centred Care by Accreditation Canada
Minister of Public Health: This achievement was made possible thanks to the State’s unlimited support to the health sector.
The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) team today celebrated receiving the Diamond level accreditation and first in the world, People Centred Care Commitment award by Accreditation Canada.
An online virtual ceremony was attended by HE Dr Hanan Al Kuwari and Dr Mariam Abdul Malik the managing director of PHCC alongside senior leadership from both PHCC and Accreditation Canada team.
The People Centred Care award distinguishes corporations that demonstrate quality and excellence in the design and delivery of patient centred health care, with PHCC being the first recipient of the People-Centred Care (PCC) Commitment Award internationally.
The designation places PHCC among an elite class of healthcare organizations globally, demonstrating excellence in key areas, including successfully launching initiatives which invite patients to become members of key committees, such as the Ethics Committee and the Quality Patient Safety Committee, enabling them to be part of key decisions in the design and development of service. It validates that Qatar healthcare system is not only respectful and responsive to individual preferences, but also continuously adopting the perspectives of individuals, families and communities and sees them as partners as well as beneficiaries of trusted healthcare system.
PHCC has undergone a very lengthy and vigorous accreditation process during Covid-19 pandemic. The five months accreditation process involved hundreds of evidence submissions, many virtual meetings with the surveyor teams and hybrid onsite surveys at all health centres. It has achieved highest Diamond level accreditation for an unprecedented second time.
HE Dr Hanan al-Kuwari, attending the event, noted that this remarkable achievement was made possible thanks to the State’s unlimited capabilities and support to the health sector, in addition to the commitment and enthusiasm of the teams involved in gaining the achievement.
“Achieving this accreditation is testament to the tireless efforts of the PHCC team and the dedication to achieving the highest standard of care for our communities. The corporation has demonstrated its commitment to delivering the most efficient and compassionate care during a challenging period for healthcare internationally.” Said HE Dr Hanan Al Kuwari During the ceremony Dr Mariam Abdul Malik, acknowledged the awards and shared highlights of the journey.
Commenting on the achievement she said, “Receiving this award reflects the values of PHCC, it recognises the exemplary efforts by the staff in ensuring that we are delivering effective, high quality care to our patients. Today we are delighted to not only receive this award but to be able to deliver the best primary care to our population.”
She added that the corporation continues to work hard to maintain excellence in all its services, to deliver care that understands and exceed patients’ expectations.
