The Cervical Cancer Screening program is being carried out as part of Qatar's National Cancer Program and aligns with the Qatar National Health Strategy 2011-2016 and the National Cancer Framework 2018-2022. This strategy aims to decrease the impact of cancer in Qatar while making sure that cancer services, when needed, meet world-class standards to improve medical outcomes.
Scope of Service
The Cervical Cancer Screening Service is provided through the Well Woman Clinic (WWC) at primary healthcare centers. This screening involves taking cell samples from the cervix (PAP smear), followed by HPV testing based on the smear results. If there is an unusual result, the patient is then referred to HMC for further assessment.
Target Group
All women aged between 21 and 69 with no related symptoms.
Other information
The screening is conducted every three years for women between the ages of 21 and 49, and every five years for women aged 50 to 69.
